The Near Witch 3 Month Pre-Release Epicness (Interview + Giveaways)

There's this little book, called The Near Witch, that comes out on August 2nd, exactly 3 months from today.

There's this group of bloggers who are insane for said book and its author: Victoria Schwab.

This group of bloggers - consisting of two Danielle's, a Gail, a Nikki, an Erica, a fabulous director named Jen (and non-blogger, but all-around awesome person named Ariane) - came together to create a little rap about the book. It is embarrassing and hilarious, but with its creation came many laughs and a lot of bursting out into random song. To this day, little bits and pieces get stuck in my head. I can only imagine it will do the same to you.

Check out The Near Witch rap below and continue on to read a mini interview with Victoria and enter two different Near Witch/Victoria Schwab giveaways!

Interview with Victoria Schwab, author of The Near Witch:

Stolen from V's website
Was The Near Witch born from specific tales of folklore? If so, how did you manage to weave them in, while keeping the story entirely yours?
The Near Witch was inspired by the FORM of folklore and fairy tale, but not any specific narratives. I wanted to play with the idea of the isolated town, with oral history, and with magic.
Is there a particular area that inspired the setting for The Near Witch?
Yes, Near was inspired by the north England moors. They look like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssFsEekgCd8&feature=related
Obviously, Near isn't set there specifically, and there are some tweaks to the landscape, but those moors most definitely gave birth to the ones in my mind.
Who is your favorite witch?
Professor McGonagall from HP. Hands down.
What is your biggest distraction when you write?
Twitter. No, seriously. I receive constant and quite deserved teasing for my inability to step away from it.
Are there any authors out there that you would go all fangirl if you met?
SO many (and in cases where I've met them, I HAVE). Neil Gaiman. I'd probably wet myself. Honestly. Also Kristin Cashore. Cassandra Clare (I got a book signed by her in Decatur, and was appropriately fangirly). Holly Black. Laini Taylor. The list goes on and on and on. To be honest, I pretty much go fangirl on EVERY author I like.

Now, do you want to win some stuff? I thought so.

So everyone has favorite stuff. And Victoria is no exception. Her favorite cereal is Honey Nut Cheerios. And her favorite movie soundtrack just so happens to be Harry Potter. These two things seem random and unrelated, but they're not.

Because I'm giving them away. How, you may ask? I have no clue, but I'm giving them away in some form. See, as you read this, I'm either on my way or already at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Florida. Meaning: I'm going to get the lucky winner some serious HP related goodies to go along with their delicious cereal.

Here's how it's going to work:
I'll be giving away one (1) signed, first edition copy of The Near Witch today, another on June 2nd, and the last on July 2nd. Winners will receive their books once finished copies are being released - around the book's August 2nd release date.
