Valentine's Day Love Quote-Fest

It's Valentine's Day and I want to spotlight some books about love with love quotes:

I don't think I've seen a sibling relationship done so well as it is between Mackie and Emma.
I wanted to tell her that I loved her, and not in the complicated way I loved our parents, but in a simple way I never had to think about. I loved her like breathing. ~ pg. 38

Finally a love that is built up. That starts as nothing and turns into something.
“Why?” he asks sharply. “Why would you tell me now, if it’s against the rules?”
“Because I love you.” ~ pg. 343

A beautiful story with a love that blossoms from a long-time friendship. It's tender and perfect.
Instead of graying and vanishing, my thoughts multiply, intensify, run together like tributaries in a stream, meandering and braiding and ending up always in the same inevitable river – that kiss. ~ pg. 149

This one is about love, allright; but it's more about learning to love the life you have and the people around you. It's about learning to love being you, irregardless of a significant other.
He never said he blamed me. He didn’t have to. I didn’t get a good-night kiss, and that said it all. ~ pg. 191

This entire story is about love. And it's beautiful in every facet of love that it portrays - the love for family, the love for friends, the love for a person that you never imagined could exist.
As I lie there with the hurt driving through my chest and the sick, anxious feeling churning through me and the desire for Alex so strong inside of me it’s like a razor blade edging its way through my organs, shredding me, all I can think is: It will kill me, it will kill me, it will kill me. And I don’t care. ~ pg. 166

This entire book is a history of love. From the first meeting to the last. It's so much more than I imagined.
ineffable, adj.
These words will ultimately end up being the barest of reflections, devoid of the sensations words cannot convey. Trying to write about love is ultimately like trying to have a dictionary represent life No matter how many words there are, there will never be enough. ~ pg. 120

The Eternal Ones by Kirsten Miller

Love that spreads across centuries, through different times and different lives. This story shows how unending love can be; and also how dangerous.
“Happiness is dull, Haven. All the most powerful emotions come from chaos – fear, anger love – especially love. Love is chaos itself. Think about it! Love makes no sense. It shakes you up and spins you around. And then, eventually, it falls apart.” ~ pg. 363

Catching Fire (Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins

At heart, this series is about the love within a family. Katniss sacrifices everything to save her sister Prim, and in the process, we discover another love. Love for Katniss, and Peeta, Haymitch, and even Gale.
“No one really needs me,” he says, and there’s no self-pity in his voice. It’s true his family doesn’t need him. They will mourn him, as will a handful of friends. But they will get on. Even Haymitch, with the help of a lot of white liquor, will get on. I realize only one person will be damaged beyond repair if Peeta dies. Me.
    “I do,” I say. “I need you.” ~ pg. 352

Justine - Aww, I never meant to spoil anything on you. I tried so hard to not give any important plot points away, so I'm so, so sorry if I did.

Lori - I'm happy you enjoyed the quotes :-)

Omg, wonderful, wonderful post, Nikki! Also, and I note that I'm super late, but I hope you had a fantastic Valentine's Day. These quotes are super. My favorite ones are the one for The Replacement, The Lover's Dictionary, The Eternal Ones, and of course the one for Catching Fire. Loved this post! =D
