Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading Adding a teaser from your WIP (Tuesday Teaser) is a twist that Melissa from i swim for oceans started and I'm borrowing the idea
The Rules:
•Grab your current read
•Open to a random page
•Share two (2) or so “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
•BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
•Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers
This week's teaser comes from Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler. Here's a little snippet that's easily understood just by reading the book synopsis:
We're such different people now; if I met her on the street today, just like this, we would never be friends. But once in a while, her smile comes back – however fleeting – and I see her, really see her, and know I’ll do anything to keep her here a little longer, to keep her from slipping back into the coma of silence that nearly overtook her last year. ~ pg. 34
"Don't worry, Anna. I'll tell her, okay? Just let me think about the best way to do it."
"Okay."
"Promise me? Promise you won't say anything?"
"Don't worry." I laughed. "It's our secret, right?"
According to her best friend Frankie, twenty days in Zanzibar Bay is the perfect opportunity to have a summer fling, and if they meet one boy every day, there's a pretty good chance Anna will find her first summer romance. Anna lightheartedly agrees to the game, but there's something she hasn't told Frankie---she's already had that kind of romance, and it was with Frankie's older brother, Matt, just before his tragic death one year ago.
Beautifully written and emotionally honest, this is a debut novel that explores what it truly means to love someone and what it means to grieve, and ultimately, how to make the most of every single moment this world has to offer.
