Think About It Thursday (5): Blog Hate

Image used under Creative Commons - Original belongs to Salady
This is my first Think About It Thursday in a while, but I felt it was necessary to make this post.

Earlier today, Reggie from The Undercover Book Lover made a post about some comment hate that she received. I've only been blogging for less than a year, so I'm relatively new to this entire online community, but I've seen other book bloggers who have gotten the equivalent of hate mail in the form of comments on their posts.

In my own personal experience, I have only found other bloggers to be completely supportive and more than kind. Obviously, there are going to be angry and bitter? people out there who have the sole purpose of tearing another person down, but does it happen often? In your experience, have you seen/gotten rude or hateful comments or emails?

In my opinion, if you don't like someone's blog or your upset with something they have done, then don't follow them. Why would you traffic a website that you don't enjoy? If I didn't enjoy a site, I wouldn't visit it to leave comments that are intended to hurt.

From one blogger to another, grow up. It's unnecessary and rude to leave hateful comments on someone else's hard work. If you have that much of a problem and you absolutely need to get it out, email them. If  it happened to me and it was a legitimate comment/email, I'll respond. If it's just to hate on me, I'll delete it and forget about it.

Blogs are created for a creative and enjoyable escape. We use them for our own personal means and just hope that others enjoy them. If someone happens to receive many ARCs for review, it just proves how much work he/she has put into their blog. I hope to reach that point someday, but for now I'm content with what I'm doing. If someone else is upset over another blogger receiving ARCs then that person needs to seriously reevaluate his/her priorities and values. Why get upset over someone else's blog?? It boggles my mind.

Anyway, feel free to sound off on the subject and head over to Reggie's blog and leave her some <3 love <3

Nikki if more people Blogger or not would just get a life so to speak it would help cut down on the Envy and or Frustration that some for whatever reason think they should take out on others. There will always be those who like myself believe in let's all be peaceful with and help one another to enjoy our mutual hobby. There will also always be those who are very insecure and easily riled up who feel they have the right to come by anyone's blog site and just rip them to shreds.
It boggles my mind as well that anyone would rant and rave over something that is as you say created to be an enjoyable escape and place to share our love of books, crafts, pets, cooking and the list goes on and on. I am heading over now to Reggie's blog to lend a little support and let her know all lurkers and blog stalkers are not mean spirited!!!

Yeah, I'm not so sure I get the point of dislike within the blog community. Like, I can understand maybe disliking a person and their methods, but if I don't like someone then I don't subscribe to their blog, end of story. No need for hate comments. Like you said, it's a giant waste of time.

I agree this is our way of expression. And there is such a thing as free speech but..... some commentors take it too far and if your just abusing others because of jealousy they need to grow up! Hey everyone gets mailbox envy but why lash out why not just go buuy the book adn write an awesome review then people will notice you! And definetly in a more posistive light!

I am so happy that everyone seems to agree with me. Hopefully things like this do not continue to happen and people within the blogger community can continue to lend support. I know I've had more than a little mailbox envy since I've started, but like Rheanna said, I go out and buy the book(s) instead of being upset about it.

Happy blogging everyone :D
