Should I change my URL?? & Contest Reminder

In leiu of a Think About It Thursday post, I wanted to address an email I received recently.

One of my very kind (and awesome) followers (thanks for following everyone!) dropped me an email about my URL. I changed the name of my blog about 1 1/2 months ago, but I'm not all that internet savvy, so I have no idea how, or if, I could change my URL to match the new blog name without losing my followers and such. After some research, it seems like I could change the URL, and have the old one redirect my new followers, but all of my links will go dead.

The last thing I would want now is to lose my followers or any of the traffic I get. If I were to change the URL and redirect, it would take a lot of work to fix all the dead links, so what do you guys think??

Should I just stick with what I have, even though the URL doesn't match the blog name? I've seen a few other blogs that do this and it doesn't seem to cause any trouble.

Or should I put the work in and figure out how to change my URL, redirect from the old URL, and fix all the dead links?

You guys are the ones who come here and read my stuff, so your opinion really matters.

*CONTEST REMINDER*
On another note, my New Books in the New Year contest ends tomorrow at midnight, so if you haven't entered yet, make sure you do. Currently, there are going to be 5 winners with 15 books (aside from the two grand prizes) to choose from.

I'll attempt to post the winners the next day and I'll be emailing them, but it could take a little longer because there are tons of entries.

I've grown quite used to the link, so I barely think it even matters anymore. Why mess with something that isn't truly broken? :)

I don't think the link matters at all! No worries! :) We all know this is Wicked Awesome Books! :D

I say stick to what is unless you find a very easy way to transition without it causing you any stress and losing anything.

Yup I totally agree with Melissa and Sherry.
I don't think the link matters that much,
it's perfectly fine the way it is =)

I really don't even think I noticed the link until you mentioned it. I believe I've been too focused on your interesting features of your blog. So all in all I think your followers care more about your point of view than a URL. Keep up the great reviews, giveaways, and I truly love your think about it thursday posts!

I think you should stick with the address you have now if it's going to be the most convenient.

If the URL bothers you, then I would say to change it since it's your blog. Just be prepared for all the work behind updating everything ;)

Hey Nikki since I may be the one lucky follower who sent you the email info about the URL Link not matching your New Blog Site name and the blog button link also not matching the name just to let you know it was just and FYI. Your links still send me to WAB site and so do not care personally and have no desire for you to undergo the amount of work involved in "fixing' something that in truth really is not broke!

Nice site Nikki and your content is what matters to me and everyone else who follow.

Thanks for the input everyone! The old URL doesn't really bother me, but I just wanted to hear everyone's thoughts on the subject. I'll probably stick with what I have.

@jacabur1 - I appreciate you taking the time to drop me an email about it. I'm sure other people have noticed, but as you said, it still leads to the same place, so I doubt I'll do anything to change it. At least not right now. Thanks for following and taking the time to read my posts. I appreciate it.
