Meeting Michelle Zink - Author of Prophecy of the Sisters

On Tuesday (10/06) I was lucky enough to get to meet Michelle Zink.

Unfortunately I was a bit late because of my evil GPS Lillith (named after the evil character on 'Supernatural'), but I had a blast anyway.

When I got there with my friend Ana, who isn't a big reader, we joined the others in an intimate discussion. This was my first 'real' author discussion/event/signing. Last year I went to one of the huge ones with Stephenie Meyer, but that was completely different.

Anyway, Michelle talked a bit about her book Prophecy of the Sisters and she showed everyone the book trailer. I can't really remember all of the questions that were asked, but Michelle was asking all of us questions instead of everyone just asking her.

Here's some interesting tidbits I learned:
  • The book was originally titled Indigo Sky, but the publisher didn't like it and changed it. Michelle vowed to us that she was going to hide the former title in all of the books though.
  • The second installment in the Prophecy of the Sisters trilogy is already completed, but it won't come out until next year.
  • Michelle's family is very musical and her son composed the 'soundtrack' to the book. One of his songs is used in the book trailer. Check it out here: Prophecy of the Sisters Book Trailer
  • Michelle loves bloggers. She views us bloggers as integral parts in promoting books and loves what the bloggers do.
  • The original cover that came out with the ARC was entirely different and few people liked it. Michelle didn't. The majority of the bloggers didn't and it changed to what you see above.
  • The cover art is a statue from a cemetery in France(?). The covers for the next two books will also be taken from other cemeteries.
  • Michelle is a hugger. She is so incredibly kind and sincere and I hope to meet her again. When I went up to have her sign my book she gave me a hug and also hugged my friend Ana. I think she hugged everyone who came.
So that's what I learned from my awesome night. I really do hope to see Michelle again and everyone should pick up Prophecy of the Sisters. I'm about halfway through it and it's so different from other YA novels. I love it so far.

Be on the lookout for a contest to win a signed Prophecy of the Sisters, as well as some swag to go along with it. I plan on starting the contest once I hit 20 followers.

You should definitely pick it up. I haven't read too much of it, but I'm enjoying it a lot so far. I've been incredibly busy with school lately, so I haven't been able to read nearly as much as I'd like, but I hope to catch up soon.
